A Home For the Holidays
Developer opens new condo project to provide a holiday home to Montecito wildfire refugees.
The holiday spirit is alive and well in the heart of one California developer. Nick Narang has offered six condo units, rent free in his recently completed Lavender Court complex in Carpinteria to refugees of last weeks Montecito wildfire. The fire reportedly ignited on Nov 13th from a poorly extinguished bonfire. High winds kept it going through the weekend, eventually spreading the blaze across 1900 acres, destroying 210 homes and injuring two dozen people. In response Narang is extending a helping hand to people like Westmont College seniors Jon Schoff and Ian Cook who can not return to the house they shared with several other college students, as it was destroyed in the fire. While he cannot take them all in, Narang is doing his part. He has furnished the units and even filled the refrigerators and cupboards with food for his new guests. When asked why, he said he simply wants to help them through the holidays.
